We are a family owned and operated business local to the Eastern shore of Maryland. Our company name derived from a bar that was popular in Kent Narrows Shantytown known as “Portside Inn.”
The Shantytown was known as the melting pot for locally sourced seafood that would be processed and shipped across the country. “Portside Grille Caterers” was started almost by accident back in 2013, as my wife and I were looking for caterers for our wedding and all we would come across were caterers that were way out of our budget. Out of necessity, we catered our own wedding and decided there was a need for more affordable caterers in our community
About ME
My name is Alan Sorrell, chef and founder of “Portside Grille Caterers.” I grew up
watching my grandmother in the kitchen, learning as much as I could from her and other family
members. I got my first job as a dishwasher and eventually became a line cook. I fell in love with
learning and watching food be prepared on a professional level. I eventually became “banquet
captain” where all food operations concerning banquets became my responsibility. I went on to
become an Executive Sous Chef and very soon after I became an Executive Chef. Once I
became an Executive Chef, I started to further my education because I was now responsible
for the business aspect of the restaurant. With nearly 30 years of culinary experience, we are
here to serve you and your satisfaction is our guarantee.
